Quiz
Belot rules quiz
Most people play Belot for years without ever reading the rules – they learned them at the table. That is why almost everyone has a "rule" that is really a house custom: that four of a kind cancels the tierces, that you must trump even when your partner is winning, or that a capot can end the game.
The quiz has 20 questions about situations that really happen in play. After each answer you see which one is right and why, and at the end how many you got. The answers follow the belot.bg rules, which is also how Belot Arena plays.

What to read next, by score
| Correct answers | What it means | Where to continue |
|---|---|---|
| 0–9 | The basics are still settling in | Belot rules and card ranking |
| 10–15 | You play confidently but have gaps | Declarations and Belot scoring |
| 16–19 | You know the rules better than most | Contra and recontra and the hanging deal |
| 20 | You can settle arguments at the table | Counting cards – the next level is strategy |
Where people go wrong most often
Three topics collect the most wrong answers. The first is trumping: the duty applies only when an opponent holds the trick, and if you cannot overtrump an opponent who has already trumped, you may play any card – undertrumping is not required.
The second is declarations. Fours of a kind and sequences are compared separately, so four queens and the opponents' quinte are both scored. The third is the hanging deal, which many confuse with a failed contract – on equal points the declarers do not lose everything, their points simply wait for the next hand.

What if we play differently at home?
Belot is passed on from table to table and almost every group has something of its own – how points are rounded on the boundary, whether a contra stops the bidding, who cuts. The quiz does not say your custom is wrong. It checks the belot.bg rules, which is also how Belot Arena plays online.
If an answer looks strange to you, open the guide linked in the explanation – the rule is described there with an example, and it usually becomes clear where the difference comes from.
Practise the rules in a game
The table is the fastest teacher. In Belot Arena the cards you are not allowed to play are dimmed, and declarations and points are counted automatically – you see each rule in action without any argument.
